HOOPFEST September 13, 2019
WHAT IS HOOPFEST?
Brand new to Kamloops, HOOPFEST is a wheelchair basketball corporate challenge! For 25 years, corporate teams have been competing for glory while raising funds for adapted sport at HOOPFEST Vancouver. For the first time, in 2019, Kamloops Adapted Sports Association (KASA) is partnering with BC Wheelchair Basketball to bring the action to the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops.
HOW DOES HOOPFEST WORK?
Teams of 5-10 people compete in a fun wheelchair basketball tournament. Teams will compete in 10 minute games in a round robin format with playoffs. Games will be held at the Tournament Capital Centre on all three courts. The final two winning teams compete for the title of HOOPFEST Champion.
COACH + TEAM L EADER
Designated to each team, provided by KASA Team Leaders will look after their team off the court, ensuring the team knows where to go and what time(s) they are playing. The Coach will show their team how to play the game, give team members a strategy, and offer advice when needed. KASA will provide the officials, wheelchairs, coaches, Team Leaders, and basic instructions on how to play the game. Our coaches and team leaders are current and former National Team, Canada Games team athletes and coaches.
$1000 includes tournament entry, sport chairs for your entire team, a delicious snack spread, and a coach for the evening. For those of a competitive nature (which is encouraged) a practice session will be available the evening before HOOPFEST to get familiar with the sport chairs and nuances of the game.
